STORY Highlights

MUTTVILLE SENIOR DOG RESCUE

The need was great in 2007 when Muttville Senior Dog Rescue was founded. The mission continues to save the lives of older dogs that were considered “unadoptable” and routinely euthanized in San Francisco area shelters.

The team finds loving forever homes, provides medical care, and continues to innovate shelter operations with a cage-free facility, on-site veterinary suite, and foster and hospice programs.

The Carlos’ Cause product donation helped in a small way by adding a little style to the pup’s adoption photos.

CHARLIE’S ANGELS ANIMAL RESCUE

Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue was founded in 2009 as a foster and transport rescue with a mission to save animals from euthanasia in Transylvania County. In 2012, the organization expanded their scope of services by opening a shelter in Fletcher NC.

The sole mission is to find forever homes for homeless, abandoned, and neglected animals from the area.

Charlie’s Angels was a new organization to the Carlos’ Cause family and was part of our Holiday Donation drive in December 2023.

STRAIGHT OUT OF RESCUE

Straight Out of Rescue (SORS) was a Carlos’ Cause grant recipient in March. SORS is a Vancouver based organization that works to end the cycle of homelessness, abuse, disease and overpopulation of dogs and cats.

They are using the grant to help Munch and his care. You can see a reel on his first day with us on Instagram (and lots of other posts of his sweet face!). Here is him all decked out in his RC Pets rain jacket! 🙂

Carlos’ Cause represents the best of all of us at RC Pets. Thanks to everyone for all of the work and effort that you make on behalf of this amazing cause.

One of the grant recipients in 2023 was Make A Difference Rescue of WNY (M.A.D Rescue). Make A Difference Rescue was founded on pure heart and a recognition of need after a family vacation to Puerto Rico. Street dogs are a significant problem in Puerto Rico and with the devastating hurricanes, the problem has only grown.

MAD Rescue is 100% volunteer and are passionate about helping the homeless, abused, and abandoned dogs of Puerto Rico. Through the support of donations and fundraising efforts, MAD now has a dedicated shelter in Bayamon, PR as well as one in Albion, NY.

The team at M.A.D Rescue work on finding forever homes for dogs in need.

Leech Lake Legacy

Leech Lake Legacy was brought to the attention of Carlos’ Cause through our team in the area. This is an organization that they had worked with in the past and are passionate about. These are the type of connections that are incredibly meaningful to everyone involved with the Carlos’ Cause mission.

Leech Lake Legacy is an animal welfare organization that empowers Native American communities to enrich the lives of animals by providing resources and sharing information. The organization is based in Minnesota and works in proud partnership with the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe to support the community.

Leech Lake Legacy is unique in that they do not have an adoption program. All animals that come into the Surrender & Transport Program are placed with partner shelters and rescues, where they receive necessary medical care (including spay/neuter surgery) and are made available for adoption by those partner shelters and rescues. Leech Lake transports animals every week from foster homes to clinics and rescues around the Twin Cities.

The Carlos’ Cause grant will be used to ensure the weekly transport program can continue and in doing so, will save many dogs and cats.

Newborn Kitten Rescue

Carlos’ Cause awarded a grant to the Newborn Kitten Rescue of Scottsdale in July 2023.

The Newborn Kitten Rescue saves and rehabilitates orphaned kittens that would otherwise die or be euthanized in a traditional setting. NKR is a volunteer-focused organization based in Scottsdale that works exclusively with Arizona animal shelters to intake their highest needs kitten, the most fragile ones that are sick, injured or underweight.

RC Pets & Carlos’ Cause supported the Southern Connection Dog Rescue with a product donation of collars.

Southern Connection is a volunteer run foster based dog rescue, who in partnership with Northern Reach Rescue Network, finds needed homes within the Greater Toronto Area. All dogs come from the north and usually from one of the 15 remote fly-in communities.

A Southern Connection team will be flying into several remote communities and has sponsored spay & neuter clinics during September. The clinics provide Vet & Vet Tech support along with vaccinations and health checks. All the dogs that are part of the clinic will be proudly wearing an RC collar when they leave!

We are delighted to have been able to provide the Manitoba Underdog Rescue with a fabulous product donation (leashes, collars, harnesses…) for their annual spay and neuter clinic. For all Guardians and dogs that come into the clinic, they receive a new leash & collar (courtesy of Carlos’ Cause 😊) and free dog food. They do almost 100 dogs on the weekend.

This is a project that is supported by one of our great customers (Global Pet Foods) in Winnipeg and this makes it even more special when we can integrate and help our everyday partners.

This week, the team organized disaster relief supplies for the Nova Scotia wildfire evacuated families and their pets in need. We shipped leashes, collars, harnesses and hi-viz vests to our rep in the area and John delivered the product to two of the hardest-hit centres. Thank you to the Shipping team for getting the product to the area quickly so we can continue to support animals and families in need.

BCSPCA - Charlie's Food Bank

Charlie’s is a beacon of hope and support to many residents on the downtown Eastside of Vancouver. We are organizing to do reoccurring product donations to support their initiatives of providing free vet care, grooming services and support, to sometimes, the only non-judgmental and love in their lives.

Charlie’s pet food bank provides free and low-cost pet services for people who are homeless, living outdoors, low-income and senior pet guardians in downtown Vancouver. This community-based initiative was created to improve the lives of pets living in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Launched in 2000 by the BC SPCA’s Chief Animal Health Officer at the time, Dr. Jamie Lawson, and the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, Charlie’s is named after a starving dog that came into our animal hospital in critical condition.

Since opening in 2000 more than 55,000 pet guardians have received aid and counsel, 3,300 animals have been spayed or neutered and over 11,000 animals have received other free medical treatments
